Choosing the Right Hosting Provider

Hosting Provider

Posted by on July 26, 2017

Many clients approach me who have existing websites; most often, they are out of date and in need of some modern love. Naturally, I need to find out their website’s hosting and/or domain information. Every time I get a response with some type of hosting company I’ve never heard of, dread instills. Mainly because 99% of time, these are terrible hosting providers and they are a nightmare for any designer or developer to work with. And this is most often why these clients have problems with their sites.

Shared Hosting

I should state that when I talk about hosting, I’m referring to shared hosting. There are four hosting types in total – you can read more about that here.

But shared hosting is most commonly used on smaller websites, where uptime isn’t a big problem.

Making the Right Choice

If you are going at it alone, choosing the right hosting provider can be overwhelming. And it can definitely cause more work for the developer or designer who are taking over the website (unless you decide to move to a better provider). In addition to their server capabilities and reviews, customer service is also of utmost importance! May as well get it right the first time, so here are the three best hosting providers I suggest giving your money to:

1. Bluehost

User friendly, very affordable, great customer service.

2. InMotion

Very quick with average uptime at a high rate. Great customer service, but no instant account activation unless in the U.S.

3. SiteGround

Highly recommended; They have great uptime and are also affordable. They offer multiple hosting types if you’re website is in need of more power.

4. BC Web

If you’re looking for something local right here in northern BC – this is the place! Great customer service and server capabilities.

In short: do some research beforehand and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

As always, I’m here to help 😉 Get in touch
