The Importance of Google My Business for your Website
Last week, I attended a workshop hosted by Jody Wall, award winning Google photographer, about the importance of Google’s FREE business listing.
Ever see this info pop up to the right side of a Google page when you search for a local business, restaurant, or café ?
Everything you want to know is conveniently displayed: contact info, map & directions, hours of operation, photos, and even reviews – laid out front and center in this perfect little box.
These are businesses that have registered with Google! And it has shown to exponentially increase your website traffic, by giving your business a public identity and presence, ranking you higher in Google’s search engine, and thus allowing people to easily find you.
Its completely FREE to get started. Once registered, you will be able to regularly:
- Keep information current and up to date
- Respond to customer reviews
- Review the backend analytics and find out how many views, clicks and new followers you’ve gained
Something to think about is adding a 360-degree virtual tour of your business. This is a cool feature that allows people to get up close and personal with your location. This can be great for such places that offer lodging for example, where people want an idea of where they are booking a reservation. In fact, studies have shown that listings with photos and a virtual tour are twice as likely to generate interest and result in a website visit*.
You can even register if you don’t have a physical business location (perhaps you freelance). I just did this for myself and am super excited!
